Sofa Bed – I am Sure You Need It
Sofa beds, as the name says it, are a special type of furniture that serves both as a sofa and a bed. It usually sits like a sofa; but, if there is a need for additional sleeping space, you can just pull out the bed from underneath the sofa and convert it into a bed. Almost every leather corner sofa has this function, so they are most recommended.
When you purchase a sofa bed, you should look for the most suitable size; that is, you must take into consideration the persons who will use the bed, a couple or a single person. For young children a cabin bed is more suitable. You must also consider the size of the room where the sofa bed will be placed and whether you have sheets to fit it. Check that the screws are properly fixed on the legs and that there are wooden corners with corner blocks and adhesive.
You should stay away from sofa beds that have nailed, stapled or unbraced joints since this can lead to future problems like loosening of nails or wobbling. When you remove the cushions of the sofa bed, you should be able to see the upholstered surfaces instead of wood. If you see wood under the cushions, the sofa bed is not of good quality. In order to check if the sofa bed is comfortable, make sure to sit on the center and end cushions for some minutes and lie on it to try it out and verify that it is comfortable in all positions.
You should also make sure that the bed in the sofa bed can be pulled out easily. If it does not come out smoothly, you should look for another sofa bed. If the skeleton of the sofa bed is made from large diameter tubing, it will offer sufficient strength to the bed. Also ensure that the mounting plate of the sofa is not screwed on to the frame; if it is bolted, it will offer more strength. The final test to check the comfort of the sofa bed is to make an overweight friend of yours to sit or lie on the sofa bed; he will be able to assess if the sofa bed can provide enough support and comfort for the user.
